Well point systems

Well point dewatering systems provide a simple, efficient, and cost-effective method for temporary groundwater lowering during construction activities. This technique is widely used in the Middle East to support the construction of foundations, pipelines, utilities, and other below-ground structures where shallow groundwater control is required.
Well point systems are particularly effective in shallow aquifers, where groundwater lowering remains within the suction limits of vacuum pumps. For optimal system performance and reliability, a maximum groundwater drawdown of up to 6 metres is typically recommended. This makes well point dewatering ideal for excavations requiring controlled and localised groundwater management.
The system comprises a series of small-diameter wells, known as well points, installed around the excavation perimeter. These well points are connected to a header pipe (manifold), which is in turn connected to a specialised well point vacuum pump capable of handling both water and entrained gases commonly present in groundwater.
Carbondale’s well point dewatering solutions are engineered to target only the construction zone, ensuring minimal impact on surrounding areas and groundwater quality. This controlled approach provides safe excavation conditions, improved construction efficiency, and reliable groundwater control for projects across the Middle East.
